September 2023 Design Challenge Winner:
Tim Slade's eLearning Designer's Academy
Every month in the Design Challenges section of Tim Slade's eLearning Designer's Academy, a new challenge is presented based on a hypothetical company scenario. Participants create a complete eLearning course targeting specific learning outcomes. Each challenge has a style guide outlining the company's branding elements, like colors, fonts, and logos, to mimic real-world constraints while allowing creative freedom.

The Situation
As an instructional designer at Bebida Especial, a leading spirits company, the task involved developing a training course on the Moscow Mule, focusing on the company's vodka. The course aimed to highlight why this vodka is ideal for the drink and provide ideas for bartenders to innovate with flavors, enhance offerings, and boost cocktail sales.
The Challenge
The task involved creating an interactive eLearning course that taught the basic recipe for a Moscow Mule using Bebida Especial’s signature vodka. The training also aimed to encourage learners to explore variations of the drink, including different flavors and garnishes. Designed for cocktail bar distribution partners and tasting station salespeople, the course was structured so that by the end, learners would understand why Bebida Especial’s vodka is the preferred choice for a Moscow Mule, how to mix the drink correctly, the significance of the correct serving vessel, and how to innovate with at least one unique variation of the Moscow Mule.
